Good Little Minds

Pebble & Splosh · Episode 2 · about 6 min · Ages 3–6

The Rainy Day Rumble

It's finally raining, and Splosh has puddles to splash in! Then the sky goes RUMBLE. The otters hurry to Grandpa Shellby's cosy hollow log, where he teaches them his secret: slow turtle breaths. When little Hopscotch is shivering outside, Splosh is still scared, but he uses the trick and goes to help anyway.

  • Feeling calm
  • Being brave
  • Helping others

Talk about it together

For grown-ups, after watching.

The lesson: It's okay to feel scared. Slow breaths help you feel calm, and you can be scared and brave at the same time.

  • What did Splosh do when the thunder made his tummy feel wobbly?
  • Let's take a turtle breath together. What else helps you feel calm when you're scared?

Try this at home

Five minutes, nothing special needed.

Turtle breaths

Sit together and pretend to smell a flower as you breathe in slowly, then blow out a big bubble as you breathe out. Do it three times, then say Splosh's chant: "Breathe in slow... breathe out slow... I am brave, and here I go!"

Shout along!

Little ones love joining in with these.

  • PUDDLES!
  • Ready... steady... SPLOSH!
  • Breathe in slow... breathe out slow... I am brave, and here I go!
  • Bye-bye, thunder!
