Toffee & Zip · Episode 4 · about 7 min · Ages 3–7
Go, Toffee, Go!
It's the Meadow Cup, and Toffee is playing his very first football match, with Zip as his number-one fan. Then Toffee misses an easy kick, lands on his bottom and wants to stop playing. Zip learns that a real fan cheers loudest when things go wrong, and her new cheer gets her brother back on his feet.
- Trying again
- Encouraging others
- Being a good sport
Talk about it together
For grown-ups, after watching.
The lesson: Fall down, get up, try again! And cheer for your friends most of all when things go wrong.
- How did Zip help Toffee feel brave again after he missed?
- What is something you kept trying until you could do it?
Try this at home
Five minutes, nothing special needed.
Fall down, get up, try again!
Roll a soft ball and try to knock over a plastic cup. Every time someone misses, do the cheer with the actions: "Fall down" (crouch low), "get up" (jump up), "try again!" (kick the air). When the cup finally falls, everyone says "Good game!"
Shout along!
Little ones love joining in with these.
- Clap, clap! Stomp, stomp! Go, Toffee, GO!
- That one!
- Fall down, get up, try again!
- Good game!
